The Nebraska Sandhills make up part of the Northern Great Plains - one of four remaining regional intact temperate grasslands in the world. The delicate ecosystem of these hills cannot withstand the disruption that would be caused by the construction and maintenance of NPPD's R-Project.
The R-Project is a 220 mile long 345kV transmission line that is proposed to dissect the Sandhills at its heart. The unsightly towers will create havoc on the Sandhills by requiring large equipment to drive across the virgin grassland dunes, tearing up the sensitive soil and scarring the land for generations to come.
Voices of the Sandhills
Meet the voices of Nebraska's treasure - The Sandhills. These are the people who call the dune prairies home. The ones who are fighting to keep the R-Project from destroying the fragile hills.
If you are a landowner who will be affected by the line, or if you would like to know more about how you can help to protect our national treasure, the Sandhills, please send us a message!
